Maintaining Clients
Most insurance agents once they have made the sale don't take car of the client' whether that's following up with them after they have promised to do so or just maintaining the relationship. There are certain things that need to be followed in order to maintain that client. First, make sure that the client has a good idea that you are there to help them whether that's small advice, claims or just little tips to maintain lower premiums these are important things that will not just win them over but keep them in your book of business.
Client retention is extremely important if your want you agency to grow and flourish. You need to not only get new clients but make sure that you are getting things right with each client at the beginning so that there aren't any issues down the road.
When you establish your relationship get out anything that could cause harm to the customer down the road out in the beginning so that they don't get any surprises, like if they are going to be losing a discount or if at renewal they have an accident drop off and you forget to change that on their policy it they will miss out on savings that they could be getting if you hadn't.
I did this with a homeowner once and it backfired. I switched them to a newer policy thinking that they were going to get betters savings and they ended up having to get a new inspection on their home which cost them around $6000. So make sure to maintain your clients the right way.
Along with that Auto insurance companies as an independent agent has different discounts with different companies. Nationwide has different discounts on the Smart ride Program than the Plug in discount with Progressive. Each one has different discounts.
I still don't know ALL the discounts at the moment. I am just getting basic quotes however I am going to be learning them over a long period of time. I will learn them and make sure that I get them down.

Independent VS Captive

When choosing an agent, the majority of individuals are choosing an independent agent these days because of the freedom to switch between companies. Many times retention is 100% because if a customer doesn't find what they're looking for at one carrier they will at another and so on and so on.
Many captive agents don't have the advantage of informing their clients that they can switch them or keep them within a certain agency just with a different company with different packages and products. It gives the independent agency somewhat of an advantage because when the captive agency can't write certain policies, like mobile homes for example one company specializes in mobile homes while the other company specializes in specialty auto for example, it broadens the horizons of the hope and excitement for the insurance industry.
As an agent learns more about his company products is able to broaden his customer base as well. An agent that has only done auto and only done home when he finds another company that has boat products and ATV's ect it makes his life a whole lot easier. Another advantage of an independent agency is there are no life insurance quotas that he needs to hit. My dad who is a captive agent for Allstate and has been for many years has to hit a certain amount of points to hit his numbers and isn't allowed to go out of the state due to his captive appointment with Allstate.
Where I am able to branch to Colorado, Nevada, California, Arizona as well as Utah. In those 5 states alone I could build an empire. There are so many opportunities to grow and become an insurance empire.
I recommend when looking for insurance to go with an independent agent. They have more freedom and more opportunity to transfer your premium as well as the commissions in most cases are in stead of 10% are 15% percent usually.

One of the best places to visit has to be Italy. Why? There is so much European history, the Colleseum , the city of Nero, unbelievable places like Venice. It's amazing. The sanitation isn't quite up to par with what I have seen however, It's quite the location and really amazing place to go.
I really would love to be there a couplet times in my life.
The other place I would recommend everyone visits at least once in their life is Hawaii . It's truly a traveler's paradise. There are other places that could be considered more beautiful in terms of location and water color and sunsets, however Hawaii is so classic and iconic that it doesn't seem to come close.

Insurance Isn't easy
Insurance is a tough business, not only do you need to be extremely knowledgeable about what's current in the industry, you need to help it apply to the customer so they have a working moving knowledge as well while still maintaining your customers loyalty and commitment to you. If you do one thing to screw that up it can mean your customer goes shopping. So you always need to provide explanations as to why something is the way it is, but it also needs to satisfy the customer and they need to feel you've worked sufficiently hard on this to where they can stay ok, you've done a good job on this and it's not worth me leaving over a few bucks. I want to stay with you since you've worked so hard on this.
That's hard in today's day and age.
I really like it though because I feel I've done a good job for someone at the end of the day. Like you helped them.
I also like seeing my business grow.
I want to see other business grow as well, watching my income and skills and abilities get better is what I'm all about.

How long does it takes customers to get out of indemnity before they can get back to normal? 18 months. This also includes prior insurance from another company at a maximum of 6 months. Even if the customer has had insurance for 12 months Allstate only takes a maximum of 6 months of prior insurance to get out of indemnity.
Also, For out of country or missionaries. Most of the time in Utah, if you set the driver as a non driver the missionary needs to have the address of the mission home on file in order to actually have coverage when he gets back with Allstate, or they won't take it as prior because Allstate didn't have on file the address of the location out of country. This is required in order to have the insurance coverage when he gets back.
When writing an auto policy with Allstate indemnity as well, for drivers who are indemnity (someone who's never had a license in the Country) don't need to show that they need prior insurance, they don't need to show that they intend to get their license, they don't need to have the license number on the policy, they're MVR is waived and it's written as indemnity. If it's not indemnity you need at least five years documentation of prior driving, they need a primary policy ect. So it's a really long process. But it sometimes is worth it to pay the 50% minimum down to get the indemnity if the down payment isn't that much.
